Owen Clapp

Originally from a small town in Northern California, bassist, composer, and songwriter Owen Clapp grew up in a community supportive of aspiring musicians. He came up through the jazz ranks, playing in the award-winning SFJAZZ High School All-Star Ensemble, and the California All-State Jazz Ensemble before studying music at UCLA, where he was mentored by renowned bassist John Clayton, and studied with Los Angeles Philharmonic bassists Christopher Hanulik and Peter Rofé.

His versatility on upright bass, electric bass, and keybass is regularly sought out by leading artists across a range of genres, from jazz to pop and hip-hip including Anderson Paak, Rozi Crane, India Carney, Kenny Burrell, John Clayton, Gilbert Castellanos, Bruce Forman,  and George Watsky. Owen has performed in Europe, Africa, and Mexico, in addition to across the USA. He is an endorsed artist with MTD Kingston electric basses and uses Bartolini pickups.
